The Division

BEC Legal Systems develops enterprise software for law firms and corporate legal departments. Our solutions are focused on enhancing the Microsoft Office environment. These solutions automate group calendaring, docketing, and task management in Outlook (Docket Enterprise); improve document production and formatting in Word (LegalBar and Assemble-It); and provide central matter and contact management in both Word and Outlook (MatterLink.)

All these products are tailored to the unique needs of law firms and are customizable for the specific needs of any law firm.

We are located in Cincinnati, Ohio. Once a regional provider of legal IT services, we are now a software developer providing solutions to US and international law firms. The Position

BEC Legal Systems is hiring for an Azure Data Engineer/Developer position. Our company is in the early stages of a transition from traditional client/server development on Windows to hosted Web software development using Microsoft Azure. The successful candidate will be responsible for data migration, data import, and reporting functions and will work closely with developers and architects at our USA headquarters to design and develop the next generation of BEC software for the Web.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and maintain solutions to enable client import of data from a variety of on-premises data sources to Azure SQL cloud databases
• Design and maintain solutions to migrate data from BEC on-premises databases to multitenant Azure SQL cloud databases
• Design and maintain solutions to capture change tracking and audit data in a multitenant Azure SQL application
• Evaluate and implement ad hoc user reporting tools that can be embedded in a Web application
• Generate and maintain data sets for developer testing, load testing, and other similar purposes
• Ensure product quality, consistency, and performance of deliverables through code reviews and by actively participating in team discussions

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of database architecture, and data models; ability to write complex SQL queries
• At least 4 years of software development experience
• 3+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server or Azure SQL
• At least one year of experience using Azure Data Factory in a production environment
• Good knowledge and understanding of ETL techniques
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Skills

• C# development experience
• Experience with Azure Service Bus and Azure Functions development

Nice-to-have Skills

• Proficiency in Python
